About the Timezone Finder
This tool helps you find the exact timezone for any location on Earth. Enter coordinates, search for a place, or click directly on the map to get:

Tip: Click anywhere on the map to instantly find the timezone for that location.
How to Find the Time Zone of Any Location
Enter a latitude and longitude, search an address, or click the map -- the tool returns the time zone at that exact point. You get the IANA time zone name (for example America/New_York), the current UTC offset, whether daylight saving time is in effect, and the live local time.
What the Results Mean
| Field | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| IANA time zone | Asia/Kolkata | Standard name from the IANA Time Zone Database, used by computers and phones |
| UTC offset | UTC+05:30 | Hours and minutes ahead of (+) or behind (−) Coordinated Universal Time |
| Daylight saving time | Not observed | Whether clocks are currently moved forward for summer |
| Local time | 14:32:10 | Current time at that location |
Why Time Zones Follow Borders, Not Longitude
In theory each 15° of longitude equals one hour. In practice, time zones follow national and regional borders. China spans about 60° of longitude but uses a single time zone (UTC+8); some regions use half- or quarter-hour offsets. That is why looking up the exact coordinates is more reliable than calculating from longitude.
Unusual Time Zones
| Place | IANA zone | Standard offset |
|---|---|---|

| Eucla, Western Australia (unofficial) | Australia/Eucla | UTC+08:45 |
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the time zone from latitude and longitude?
Enter the coordinates above and press Find Timezone. The tool looks up which time-zone boundary contains that point and returns its IANA name, UTC offset and local time.
What is an IANA time zone?
A standard identifier such as Europe/London from the IANA Time Zone Database (also called tz or zoneinfo). It records each region's offsets and daylight-saving history and is used by operating systems and programming languages.
What is the difference between UTC and GMT?
For everyday use they show the same time. GMT is a time zone used by the UK in winter; UTC is the atomic-clock time standard that all offsets are measured from.
What range do time zones cover?
Offsets range from UTC−12:00 to UTC+14:00.
